The lights are going out all over Wiltshire

Wiltshire Council plans to cut the amount of money it spends on street lighting, and has come up with proposals to dim some lights and remove others. It points out that there is no legal requirement for councils to provide street lights, and that if the proposals go ahead it would save £300,000 per year.

Trowbridge parking restrictions - result of consultation

Wiltshire Council wants to put more yellow lines in a number of roads around the town. Most will go ahead as advertised, but there are a number of minor amendments and the proposals for Gloucester Road and Timbrell Street have been revised and will be re-advertised.

Approval for Scheme to Introduce Common Sense Planning for Road Works!

There is surely nothing more exasperating for a motorist, cyclist, pedestrian or any road user than facing the disruption of a road being dug up just a short while after the last time it was closed or restricted for road works. This has been allowed to happen because utility companies and other private contractors have not had to ask permission to access public roads and pavements. This week, however, the government has announced that it has approved our plans for a permit scheme which will see utility companies have to apply for permission to carry out works on roads in Bedford Borough.
