Liberal Democrat Achievements at Suffolk County Council

Libreal Democrats have a strong record of delivery at Suffolk County Council. They have argued often sucessfully for action that prioritises residents needs. A focus on cost reduction at the expense of disadvantaged people has unavoidable hidden costs.

  • Backing Communities Who Want Safer Streets - We fought to make it easier for parish councils to introduce 20mph zones—because residents, know what’s best for their roads.
  • Standing Up for Flood Hit Residents - With flooding on the rise, we demanded stronger support, better response systems and clearer communication for those whose homes and livelihoods are at risk.
  • Helping People Access the Benefits They Deserve - Too many residents struggle to find accurate information about support they need.  We pushed the Council to make benefit information simpler, clearer and easier to get.
  • Championing Survivors of Sexual Harm - We pledged unwavering support for survivors, campaigning for improved services, better protection and a system that listens and responds with compassion.
  • Protecting Your Libraries – We forced the Council to properly scrutinise the Conservative plans to change the Library Service—standing up for a service families, young people and older residents rely on.
