Nicky Willshere-Your Liberal Democrat Candidate for Thedwastre South
HOUSE BUILDING MADNESS
Mid Suffolk Council reviewing local plan that could, add up to
3000 more homes to Onehouse, Harleston and Shelland.
Green party led MSDC has held its latest 'call for sites' exercise, early evidence gathering for the new building to be included in the Joint Local Plan.
Local Liberal Democrat Nicky Willshere said “These consultations are used to invite the landowners to offer parcels of land for possible building. I have seen the updated map and am stunned to see the amount of land being offered.
The area offered around Onehouse, Harleston and Shelland has more than doubled since the last consultation!!” “There are huge areas of farmland and some areas of woodland being proposed” she added.
The Liberal Democrats are firmly opposed to any housing or industrial developments, that come without local infrastructure. To gain our support roads, doctors’ surgeries, schools and shopping areas must be in place or be an actual part of the building work. They must not be treated as an afterthought.
Nicky’s top priorities
Fighting for a fair deal for Thedwastre South
1 Standing up for our young people
Young people deserve the chance to build their futures here. Nicky will work to support better public transport, apprenticeships and school places so our communities remain great places for young people to grow up and succeed.
2 Responsible development
Too often new housing is approved without the roads, GP surgeries and school places needed to support it. Nicky will fight for development that comes with the infrastructure our communities need. When development happens, it must
include the appropriate infrastructure plans to go along with it.
3 Fix our roads!
Potholes and poorly maintained rural roads are a constant frustration. Nicky campaigns for proper investment in road repairs so residents can rely on safer, better maintained roads.

A Message from Penny Otton – Your Retiring County Councillor
This year, I am stepping down as your Liberal Democrat County Councillor. I am pleased to confirm that Nicky Willshere will be standing for the Thedwastre South Division of Suffolk County Council.
As the Mid Suffolk District Councillor for Rattlesden, Nicky knows the area well and understands the key challenges facing residents, including the rising cost of living, pressures from large housing developments, and limited local transport.
Over recent years, Nicky and I have worked closely to deliver results for our communities. I hope you will support her on May 7th.
Although I am retiring from the Council, I will still be part of the community, cheering on
Nicky, who will continue the work we’ve started. Thank you once again for the privilege of serving you.
Warm regards,
Penny Otton
