40,000 pupils not entered for GCSE Maths and English, Liberal Democrat research shows

Over 40,000 children were not entered in GCSE exams for maths and English last year, and over 60,000 children were entered for fewer than five GCSEs, according to figures revealed by the Liberal Democrats. The figures, contained in a parliamentary answer, show that the Government's target that all children should achieve at least five good passes at GCSE is currently unachievable.

Shepway Roads Scheduled for Resurfacing Works

A number of roads in Sandgate, Cheriton, East Folkestone, Hythe, New Romney and Lydd have been scheduled by Kent Highway Services for "Micro-Surfacing". It is anticipated that all works will be undertaken from the last week in April to the second week in May.

Brown must speak out on China's role in Darfur

Over 3,000 protesters gathered outside the Sudanese Embassy in London on Sunday as part of a global day of action to end the conflict in Darfur. Addressing the protest, Nick Clegg called on Gordon Brown to speak out against China's role in Darfur and persuade China to use its influence to bring the fighting there to an end.
