DSO 40th Anniversary

Dacorum Symphony Orchestra Celebrates its 40th Anniversary in Berkhamsted

The evening of Saturday 20th October saw the Dacorum Symphony Orchestra celebrate its 40th Anniversary at a concert in the splendid Centenary Theatre of the Berkhamsted Collegiate School. The DSO evolved from the Hemel Hempstead Orchestra founded in 1972 by Thomas Loten, who also founded the Dacorum Sinfonietta in 1974 to concentrate on chamber music and smaller works, at the same time giving opportunities to young local players and enabling concerts to be performed in the many smaller halls across Dacorum.

A Big Olympic and Paralympic Thank You

The recent meeting of the Full Council was the first since the conclusion of both the Olympic and Paralympic Games. In light of the remarkable summer of sport we all enjoyed, and in particular the unique contribution made by Bedford Borough throughout, I wanted to take the opportunity to say a special thank you to all those locally who, in their different ways, helped make it such a special experience for all.

Conference Oct 12

A Successful Regional Conference

Lib Dems from across Berks, Bucks, Hants and Oxfordshire attended their Regional Conference in Chandler's Ford to hear key speeches from MPs Vince Cable, Tom Brake and Don Foster and well as from MEP Sharon Bowles. In addition they took part in policy motions on a wide range of topics from fracking to planning fees.
