Blimey! Comment in The Financial Times, 9 June, in response to Ming Campbell's recent speech on the Lib Dems proposed taxation policy over the next few years:
Cllr Fraser Macpherson, Leader of the Dundee City Council Liberal Democrat Group today (Saturday 24th June) released the Council's "Administration Review : Three Years On" document in which he and Council Leader Jill Shimi review the successes and priorities of the joint LibDem/Labour administration on the City Council.
Responding to Tony Blair's speech on crime, Liberal Democrat Shadow Home Secretary, Nick Clegg MP said: "This is clearly an admission of failure by the Prime Minister. It is striking that after 10 years in power, the gap between his rhetoric and reality is wider than ever. It is a continuing failure of government policy that is letting people down, not some nebulous 'liberal establishment' or an ill-defined need to 'rebalance' the system. We have prisons bursting at the seams, a judiciary at loggerheads with the Government, a probation service on its knees, falling conviction rates for serious crimes, one of the highest rates of reoffending in Western Europe, and a Home Office in a state of institutional meltdown."
Park Ward Lib Dem Cllr Lynne Beaumont has slammed the County Council's decision to close Broadmeadow Care Home and move its vulnerable residents. Broadmeadow will be demolished to make way for an entrance and car park for the new Academy.
Plans for the proposed new Sports centres in Folkestone and Hythe are in crisis. The new facilities are to be funded using the Governments Private Finance Initiative (PFI) Scheme. However, changes to this very complex scheme have meant that at this late stage the Council will may not be able to produce enough funds to make the scheme possible.
I don't know about you, but right now, it feels like everybody seems to be turning to the Lib Dems for help.
