Sustainable Communities Bill backed by local MP

Local MP, Tim Farron will be supporting the Sustainable Communities Bill in parliament on Friday, it is a Bill designed to, among other things put a stop to the government's plans to close large parts of the post office network. The Bill is returning to parliament this Friday and Tim will make a special effort to travel down from the constituency to back the Bill in its progress towards becoming law.

Liberal Democrats in Chesterfield have attacked neighbouring Labour MP Natascha Engels for voting against a call in Parliament for an independent inquiry into the Iraq war and occupation.

Olympic Legacy: Sculpture or Athletics Track?

Cllr David Kendall, leader of the Lib Dem Group on Brentwood Borough Council, has called for Brentwood's 2012 Olympic legacy to be the building of an athletics track and possible stadium at the Brentwood Centre.

Claire Darke joins the Liberal Democrats

Last year Park Ward resident Claire Darke was so angered by the Labour Council's decision to close Compton Pool and by the inaction of Labour councillors that she launched a massive "Save Compton Pool Campaign" and as a result, stood as an independent candidate in the local elections in May. She had realised that the Liberal Democrats were successfully campaigning to make improvements locally in many different ways and after the election was over she decided to join them.
