The local Safer Neighbourhood team in Childs Hill opened a shop in Golders Green Road. Rents in this road are some of the most expensive in London. The door is locked. There is a sign on the door. It reads "This is not a reporting Police Station. Any crime concerns or property you wish to report must be done at Golders Green Police Station. To my mind it is a total waste of money for the Safer Neighbourhood Team to have offices in prime High Street locations and then be closed to the public. We now learn the Mayor of London is planning to close Police Stations in the Borough. Golders Green, Whetstone and High Barnet Police Stations face the axe. The Mayor is leaving very little time for consultation. I suspect minds are already made up. Can it be right that the only Police Station left standing in Barnet will be Colindale? Will they remember to change the sign in the Safer Neighbourhood shop window?
