New Surgery Survey in Tring - Consultation Closes 20 May

Time is running out to have your say on the future of New Surgery The New Surgery in Tring has been led by a single GP, Dr. Hall-Jones, for 29 years. As Dr. Hall-Jones retired in January, Herts Urgent Care has taken on GP services at the practice on a caretaker basis. There is currently a contract in place for up to 8 months, from 1 February 2016, for this arrangement to continue, but it is not possible for this to be a permanent solution.

All-Party Support for Lib Dem Motion Seeking Clarity on the Status on non-UK EU Citizens Particulary Regarding Standing for Local Councils.

At the Hertfordshire County Council Meeting on 27th November 2018, the following motion was proposed by Chris White the County Councillor for St Albans Central and (since May 2019) Leader of St Albans & City Council and Councillor for Clarence Ward and duly seconded by Barbara Gibson, the County Councillor for Haldens and (since May 2019) one of the seven East of England MEPs.

Bizarre Tring Land Sales - Good News and Bad

Well, the good news is that county officials have confirmed that because these plots are land that is part of an adopted public highway maintainable at public expense then, under the Highways Act, no work may take place upon it without the permission or authorisation of the Highway Authority - in this case Hertfordshire County Council.

Bees Still in Decline Due to Insecticide Use - as the UK Works Hard to Undermine EU Restrictions

Bees are crucial to the pollination of crops and to agricultural efficiency. However they are under threat from a number of chemicals - some in a quite unexpected manner. For example selective herbicides and fertilizer might not be expected to hurt bees at all. However spray drift from herbicides and fertilizer run off from the crop areas have led to field margins becoming dominated by a sparse vegetation composed of coarse grasses, nettles, docks and hogweed. Few flowering plants thrive here and bees have insufficient blossom to feed from.
