Farron: inspectors overlooked hospital trust failings
South Lakes MP, Tim Farron, has received information that the Care Quality Commission (CQC), one of the regulators looking into the recent failings at the University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Trust, may have overlooked many serious risks within the hospital trust, less than a year before the trust reached crisis point.

Path Improvement Grants Scheme
The Paths Improvement Grants Scheme aims to help people make improvements to countryside access in their area. Around £60,000 is available directly for community led projects. Wiltshire Council can also help with bids to external organisations, so additional funding may be available. PIGS bids may be of any amount up to £5000. Applicants need to provide at least 50% of the total cost.

Day Centre Users' Dry Car Wash Cleans Up!
Yesterday morning I was very lucky to have my car 'dry washed' by a new team made up of learning disabled users of the Council's Adult day centre services. They've done a great job, and there was not a hosepipe in sight! This is a service which is currently being trialled, and it is hoped to be launched publicly soon, so keep an eye out for more information. As I say, they've certainly done a fine job on my Smart car! The dry wash is obviously very timely in the current circumstances, with the hosepipe ban in place, and is very environmentally friendly. The service they offered was great, and I'm sure it will prove popular when it is up and running.
