Rochdale MP praises Royal Mail staff!

It was an early start this week for Rochdale MP - Paul Rowen as he took time out to visit the Rochdale Royal Mail Delivery Office at its busiest time of the year. Paul enjoyed a tour round the Sorting Office at 7am with Delivery Office Manager Tony Woods.

Dundee Liberal Democrat Councillor highlights phone masts concerns

Mobile phone base stations, or phone masts, have been a source of considerable debate, not just in Dundee but across Scotland and the rest of the UK. Concerns over their siting typically centre around health and aesthetic issues, while people's increasing use of mobile phones, and particularly new 3G services, constantly drives the need for new masts.

Community Drop-In Centre opens

A daily drop-in centre has now opened at Walkerville Community Association in Pinewood Close. The centre is open, Monday to Friday from 9 until 1, to all residents across Walkergate. It offers computer and digital camera classes, Internet access and a stock of 200 library books for loan that are changed on a monthly basis. It is also a friendly place to call in to meet friends and catch up on local news.

Borough Lib Dems give thumbs down to Tory development plans

Lib Dems on the Borough Council have criticised Tory plans to add 14,000 new homes round the edges of the town - in Beaulieu Park, New Hall and Broomfield. Lib Dem leader Cllr. Chris Rycroft said, "These plans don't properly address the problems an expansion of this magnitude would have on town services and would fundamentally alter the character of the town's periphery."
