In our view controversial proposals should be subject to public consultation at the earliest possible moment. We are hopeful that these particular plans have been dropped - but why pick on Stoke Road in the first place?
Dundee City Council Finance Convener Cllr Fraser Macpherson today (Monday 12th February) said that the City Council's service proposals for the new financial year will be "fully costed and properly funded." The Liberal Democrats are referring the British government to the European Commission over the abandonment of the investigation into BAE Systems' dealings in Saudi Arabia. This follows a Commission answer to a question from Chris Davies MEP, that non-action by a member state could be regarded as sanctioning of the payment of bribes. If the Commission finds that its rules have been broken, the government could face a potentially unlimited fine.
