Thursday 9th May saw the ground floor hall at the New Mill Baptist Church filled with a greater than usual number of people who had called in for lunch and the company of their friends. This particular day was the first anniversary of the setting up of a regular Thursday lunchtime café by the Minister, Mr Andrew Openshaw and his wife Kate. Called "Le Moulin" (the Mill), a name which combines a reference to the location as well as to their years working in Northern France, the café offers a variety of hot meals and snacks as well as excellent Fairtrade tea and coffee and delicious homemade cakes.
A massive thank you to everyone who worked hard in this year's local elections. It's been another tough year in our journey from a party of protest to a party of Government, but where it matters most, in our Parliamentary seats, we've stayed strong and even made gains, beating the Conservatives by 5% of the vote.
Today, Shenfield councillors have learnt that Crossrail plan to compulsory purchase Friars Avenue Car Park in Shenfield.
Venue: Hythe Bay School - Main Hall, Cinque Ports Ave, Hythe CT21 6HS
People who have to care for elderly relatives - often their own parents - in addition to the demands of work and family life are to receive training in care techniques and an entitlement to help, such as respite holidays. Councils will have to assess what support carers need. Everyone will be offered advice and guidance and means-tested financial assistance to pay for services will be available to those who qualify.
