Dundee LibDems back national campaign for warm homes

Dundee Liberal Democrats are backing the Warm Homes Campaign, the annual winter campaign organised by fuel poverty charity Energy Action Scotland, in association with energy supplier Powergen, to highlight the plight of households who are unable to afford to heat their homes to adequate levels this winter.

Halifax survey shows council tax hits pensioners hardest

Commenting on the findings of the Halifax survey into council tax rises, Liberal Democrat candidate for Park ward Robin Lawrence said "These figures are yet more evidence that Council tax is Britain's most unfair tax. It falls disproportionately on pensioners and the low paid. We already have the spectre of pensioners going to jail over this tax, how much more proof do the Government need of social injustice before they act?"

South East Health Chief issues cold weather warning to Shepway's elderly

'Keep warm, keep well' is the message South East Public Health Director Dr Mike Gill wants to get across to the South East's population this winter. According to the Met Office, the coming winter months may well be the coldest in recent years. This has health implications for us all, but particularly for vulnerable groups such as the elderly and those suffering from heart or chest problems.

Parliament entitled to hold ministers to account over Iraq

Commenting on a cross-party motion tabled in the House of Commons effectively calling for an Parliamentary inquiry into the Prime Minister's conduct over Iraq, Sir Menzies Campbell MP, Liberal Democrat Shadow Foreign Secretary, said "The House of Commons is entitled to hold ministers to account for the decision to go to war and the failure to have proper plans for its aftermath."
