Police appeal for information on missing Lydd woman

Kent Police are concerned about the welfare of a woman who did not return her home in Lydd on the evening of Tuesday 6 September. Tanya Smith was last seen leaving the life skills centre in Cobbs Mews, Christchurch Road, Folkestone at 3.30pm. Tanya is 30 years old but has a mental age of eleven.

Police to merge South East Kent and Ashford Policing Areas

Kent Police has announced the first stage of a programme of review and change designed to make sure it is a force fit for the future. Initial plans include reducing the number of policing areas in the county from nine to six, with the target of cutting the time spent on administration and get more officers on to Kent's streets.

MP calls for cricket to be live for everyone!

Rochdale's Lib Dem MP - Paul Rowen is calling for the Government to take steps to keep cricket "live" on every television set in the country. Paul has reacted with fury after it was revealed that the current Ashes Series will be the last live cricket to be shown on terrestrial television till at least 2009 . Paul has given his support to the all party consensus that live cricket needs to remain on terrestrial TV by drafting an Early Day Motion. He is calling for the England and Wales Cricket Board to renegotiate the live rights to ensure everyone can enjoy live cricket.

A strategy for clean and sustainable energy

The Liberal Democrats have passed a series of measures that together form a strategy for clean and sustainable energy at their Conference. The strategy is based on energy demand reduction, greater energy efficiency, the use of economic instruments, combined heat and power, micro-generation and community-based forms of generation and a mix of renewable energy sources that include biomass, wind, wave, tidal, and solar.
