Lib Dems slam Brentwood Council for plans to close town centre disabled car park

Brentwood's main opposition party has accused Brentwood Council of duplicity in relation to plans to close the William Hunter Way disabled car park and move provision for disabled parking elsewhere. The plans - which have neither gone out to consultation, nor been discussed at any Council meeting, or with ward councillors - were uncovered by Brentwood North Lib Dem councillors Philip Mynott and Barry Aspinell after notifications of the removal of Highways rights from the car park were sent to North Road Avenue, Brentwood, which borders it. The process of removing these rights would allow the site to become private. And whilst there would be disabled car parking provision in the development, it would only be close to businesses in the development, and much further away from the High Street. Cllr Philip Mynott and Cllr Barry Aspinell (Lib Dem, Brentwood North) aggressively criticised the decision as 'morally wrong and deeply flawed' as changes to the use and ownership of the car park, which was beyond the foot

Political views not political parties count

Good Morning Conference, when considering this election people often say that political parties should not be involved. In fact our own English regional party said exactly that. Yet to get elected any person standing needed a group of like minded friends to help deliver leaflets on a cold day or knock on doors, and as a member of this party for over 25 years my obvious group of friends to help are you.

Council Road Contractors Slammed

COUNCIL ROAD CONTRACTORS SLAMMED Two Councillors in the West of the County have slammed the standard of service provided by Shropshire Council's new roads maintenance contractor Ringway. Cllr Heather Kidd (Chirbury and Worthen) said "Since Ringway took over the contract about six months ago the standard of road repairs has fallen off dramatically, In my ward alone I have a long list of work not done or botched. I know from colleagues that the same is true of elsewhere in the County." Their concerns about the contract with Ringway are as follows: · Nothing appears to be done with any urgency. · Finding dates for work to be completed seems impossible or extremely slow. Do they have a work programme? · They have had complaints about them coming a fixing a pothole and leaving others because they were reported later. What is the cost of that? · It costs extra to get them back to re-clean gulley's and pipes which they failed to do properly the first time - even where there is a danger of flooding. · They decided to

WORTHEN area news

Worthen Areas Issues The road closure has taken up a lot of everybody's lives recently. The end is now however, is in sight. They hope to be finished on the main road and starting on the side roads by 30th/31stOctober. I will be sent a programme of work for the side roads and will circulate it to all those I have emails for as soon as I have it (e-mail me on heather.kidd@shropshire.gov.uk if you would like to be added to the list.). The other good news is that those who have applied for business compensation have found the process quick and easy and are pleased with the payments. The Rea Bridge on the Leigh road will be closed for 2 days starting on 26th November as workmen carry out repair to the parapet. It will be closed from 9 am to 3.30 pm each day. I have started delivering 30 mph stickers for wheelie bins in Brockton and will finish Worthen as soon as possible. The idea is to remind traffic to stick to the limit every time you put the bin out. The Brockton to Rowley road. This is in poor condition at
