Anne Scott's letter to the residents of Ore
Dear Ore Resident,
Dear Ore Resident,
Many City workers park their cars all day round the West Park and then walk the rest of the way to work. That's fine in most areas but it causes problems outside the West Park Hospital. Not only are visitors to the hospital frequently inconvenienced but many West Park users have raised concerns about a lack of parking near to the popular West Park Tea Rooms and the play area. Plans have now been submitted to install time limited parking outside the hospital to benefit hospital visitors, Tea Room customers and play area users alike.
Thanks to pressure from local Liberal Democrats a revised parking and restricted waiting area is to be set up in the Kingsland Road area. Residents and Liberal Democrat Councillors were concerned by the original plans to fell a tree and concrete over a green space in Kingsland Road in order to make more limited waiting parking. Those plans have now been scrapped in favour of creating a limited waiting area for parking on Park Road East near to Kingsland Road. This revised plan will allow shoppers to park for up an hour while using the shops on Newhampton Road West.
In an Observer article Liberal Democrat Leader and Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg vowed there would be no return to savage cuts of the Thatcher years. The article is reprinted below:
A short service of remembrance, led by a chaplain, was held at Christchurch Tower in the Garden of Remembrance, Sandgate road, Folkestone. Touchingly, the Methodist congregation from across the road came out to join the service.
In honour of William Harvey Day, to celebrate the life and achievements of one of Folkestone's most famous sons, it was a great pleasure to meet the representatives from the Harvarian Society, most of whom were members of the Royal College of Physicians.
