Liberal Democrats at County Hall have unearthed information that shows that Herts County Council has had to pay out over a million pounds in injury and compensation claims in just two and half years - due to highways defects.
Three Rivers District Council (TRDC) has successfully prosecuted another fly tipping case which involved an illegal deposit of building rubble, domestic waste and garden waste dumped in a garage court. The offender was identified and contacted, he cleared the waste at his own expense, pleaded guilty and was fined £1597 - fine and costs. ……………………………………………………………….. The work to repair and restore the Ebury Way Bridge has been completed and it has been re-opened again to the public. It is worth having a walk along to see it.
Tring's Liberal Democrat County Councillor, Nick Hollinghurst, has now picked up his new Nissan Leaf Acenta. After an hour's discussion with the salesman right at the start, a 30-minute test drive for Nick and Rosemarie, his wife, followed by a 24-hour test hiring (nothing to pay) and a final hour of driving instruction and hints, the purchase of an all-electric vehicle is not something you do without a fair amount of thought.
Practical Action is a long-established charity which aims to introduce small-scale simple technology to make big differences to large numbers of people.
Tring's Annual Eco-Fair, held on Saturday 25th May, 2014, in the Victoria Hall, Akeman Street, was a great success once again. With more stalls - and more interesting stalls - there was plenty to see and do. Electric transport was the new feature this year, with electric bicycles, an electric car and an electrically powered van on display next door in the yard beside the Akeman Inn. Pride of place was a Honda Leaf with which its satisfied owner had just completed its first year.
