Action against anti social motorcycling

Dudley police have been taking some action against the off-road motorcycles using Sedgley Beacon. This follows complaints from Councillors in Dudley and Springvale Liberal Democrat Focus Team Councillors. The problem has not gone away but the Focus Team is confident that it is on the way to being totally solved.

Police Community Support Officers

New PCSOs for Springvale

Springvale's Liberal Democrat councillors are pleased to inform everyone that three police officers have been allocated to SpringVale Ward with immediate effect. The original plan to have three Police Support Officers from early June was postponed, but this recent news is excellent for the Ward. The three Support Officers will start their duties in November or December. Along with housing problems, antisocial behaviour, - particularly by youths - is the topic which concerns all residents and they are determined to work with all agencies to help stamp it out.

Charlton says ''Scotland should say no to nuclear''

Dundee Liberal Democrat local party secretary Michael Charlton today (Wednesday 12th July) backed calls by Jo Swinson MP, Liberal Democrat Shadow Secretary of State for Scotland, to oppose plans by the Labour Westminster Government to build a new generation of nuclear power stations.

Speaker agrees to Lib Dem request for an emergency debate on the UK's extradition laws

In a highly unusual move, Commons Speaker Michael Martin allowed Wednesday's debate after a request by Liberal Democrat MP Nick Clegg. Mr Clegg said an extradition accord with the US is one-sided because the Americans have failed to ratify it. "It's difficult to understand why the government should enact such an important piece of legislation without also exercising the political pressure in Washington, that is only this week belatedly being brought to bear, to encourage the US Congress to enact its side of the bargain," he said.
