Successful stalls in Wombourne and Albrighton

Fund-raising stalls have been held at the Wombourne Carnival and Albrighton Fair. And very successful they were too. In very hot sunshine in Wombourne on July 2nd there was a continuous queue of people which lasted three hours. Albrighton on 8th July was much cooler yet still they came to the Lib Dem stall. A Shropshire Star reporter decided the stall was the place to be and took numerous photos with Penn member June Hemsley as the star. A number of Albrighton ladies of a blue rinse nature opened their purses to support the Lib Dems urging us to fight Labour as the local Tories were either invisible or useless. Yes madam we will. We will use your donation to defeat Labour in Park Ward. We have already trounced the Tories and they are no longer in the running!

Government is covering up the facts about ID cards

The Freedom of Information watchdog ordered the Department of Work and Pensions to publish its findings about how the cards could fight ID fraud, the department has decided to appeal against the ruling. Liberal Democrat Home Affairs spokesman Nick Clegg said "The public has a right to know if the billions of pounds the government is committing to this massive project will be money well spent. It is a measure of the government's failure to justify ID cards that during the passage of the bill they never once released a full estimate of its costs and impact."
