LGBT+ Lib Dems respond to Scottish Government on Equal Marriage

LGBT+ Lib Dems have responded to the Scottish Government's Call for Evidence for the Marriage and Civil Partnerships (Scotland) Bill. The Call for Evidence closes on Friday 23rd August, and seeks opinions on particular aspects of the legislation. LGBT+ Lib Dems will be working with the Scottish Liberal Democrats to ensure that the Scottish Bill reflects Liberal Democrat party policy for equal marriage as closely as possible.

Gilbert Secures Commitment To Press Russia Over Anti-Gay Attacks

dLiberal Democrat MP for St Austell & Newquay, Stephen Gilbert, has today secured a commitment from the Government to press the Russian President over rising anti-gay attacks in Russia. Following a series of measures by the Russia government to ban "pro-homosexual" content, there has been a rise in the number of attacks on gay people in the country.

Phil Bennion MEP petitions IOC for Sochi 2014 Athletes

Lib Dem Euro MP Phil Bennion has received assurances from the International Olympic Committee that the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics must be open to all, without discrimination on the basis of race, gender or sexual orientation. Following concerns in letters from constituents, Phil Bennion wrote to Jacques Rogge, President of the International Olympic Committee, over the new Russian law prohibiting information which "promotes non-traditional sexual relations" to minors.

Autumn 2013 Plus Magazine hits doorsteps!

The new edition of Plus, the magazine for LGBT+ Lib Dems, is arriving with members and supporters. The cover story is of course the Marriage (Same-Sex Couples) Act 2013, with a look at Lib Dem MPs, Lords and activists at the vigils outside Parliament co-ordinated by LGBT+ Lib Dems. There's an update on the progress of the Marriage and Civil Partnerships (Scotland) Bill before the Scottish Parliament and the amendments required to bring it closer to Lib Dem party policy.
