Liberal Democrat Leader Cllr David Kendall has resigned from Brentwood Town Centre's Renaissance Group citing his differences with the group's current aspirations & direction and his desire to be able to speak out on key town centre issues as his reasons for doing so.

St James Road planning application refused

Common sense prevailed last night as the application for a seven storey, 71 dwelling apartment block in St James Road near Brentwood station was refused permission on the grounds of unacceptable living conditions, unacceptable effect on the street scene and loss of an employment site.

Cable says new Barclay's boss highlights bank worries

Business Secretary Vince Cable says the appointment of investment banker Bob Diamond to head Barclays illustrates the dangers facing traditional High Street banks in having investment arms. During the general election the Liberal Democrats with Mr Cable as Treasury spokesman campaigned for big banks to be broken up. "We are worried about this combination of the casinos and the traditional banking," said Mr Cable.

Lib Dems Counting Down to Eastfield By-Election

Local Lib Dems are counting down to the Borough Council By-Elecion for Eastfield Ward on the 24th September. The election was called after the sad death of Liberal Democrat Councillor and Group Leader, Brian O'Flynn.
