Councillors Inspect Golf Course Site

In July local councillors Kay Rush and Janet Whitehouse accompanied council officers on their regular visit to Parsonage Farm golf course. For three hours they and representatives of the golf course walked the site inspecting the height of the mounds and the depth of the holes.

Stop Speeding Damage

Following repeated destruction of the fence at the corner of Theydon Road and Great Gregories Lane in Theydon Bois former county councillor Janet Whitehouse arranged for a week long assessment of traffic speed. Some residents wanted speed calming measures such as chicanes but county council officers say only lines and signs are permissible because the road is part of the county council's strategic road network.

All change for Highways

Our local district council no longer looks after Epping Forest's roads and pavements. Essex County Council has taken direct control of road maintenance and highways schemes.

Goodbye to Wansfell College

The sale of Wansfell College has fallen through at the last stage on several occasions, reports former Theydon Bois county councillor Janet Whitehouse. This time, however, it is certain. Contracts were exchanged on 19 August and completion is due 28 days later.

Recycling service set to expand

Epping Forest residents will soon be able to recycle plastic bottles alongside their paper. The clear sack paper and can recycling service will be expanded to cover plastic bottles too. And the district's many gardeners will get a green waste service all year round.

Broomfield Parade Post Office extension "considered" - Charman

Lib Dem Cllr. Peter Charman has announced that Tesco is considering a further extension to keep the Post Office on Broomfield Parade open while negotiations with the Post Office continue. He went on, "I'm also delighted that, after we put pressure on it, the Post Office has agreed to waive the fee of over £10,000 for a new Postmaster".
