William Hunter Way debacle: Joint press release issued by cross party councillors

Thirteen Brentwood councillors have put political differences aside and joined forces on this important issue as individual members to ensure that Brentwood's residents are not short changed on the proposed William Hunter Way 'cinema' deal. This is also part of a collaborative campaign to persuade the leadership at Brentwood Council to come clean and to begin to walk the walk of openness and transparency in their dealings in order that their actions start to match their rhetoric in this regard.

How welfare cuts will hit Wiltshire

The Welfare Reform Act 2012 is the biggest change to the welfare system for more than 60 years. It will affect just about everybody - you'll take a direct hit if you are in receipt of benefits; you'll be affected if you are an employer; and the local economy will be depressed by a general reduction in spending. This week we received the very welcome confirmation of the award of £3.1 million from the national weekly collection support fund. The grant award is in recognition of our commitment as one of the minority of councils to have protected weekly black bin collections and our plans to increase recycling and reduce waste even further.
