Jonathan Webber consults residents about open spaces

Wolverhampton Council's Property Services Division has contacted local Liberal Democrat Councillors about the future of the green space on Kenton Avenue and the land next to 20 Hordern Road. In a letter to Councillor Robin Lawrence and Councillor Claire Darke, Property Service state that the two areas are being investigated to see whether they can be put to alternative uses as they not considered to be of "open space value."

Zahid Shah acts on dangerous broken glass

While campaigning in the Reansway Square area of St Peters' Ward local Liberal Democrat Zahid Shah discovered fly-tipping and dangerous broken glass. In order to keep the area tidy and safe Zahid reported the mess into the Council's Street Scene Division for immediate clearing. Zahid Shah said"Discovering this sort of mess is typical of a Labour controlled council ward. The three Labour councillors are rarely seen in the area and do not appear interested in clearing up dangerous fly-tipping. Increasingly residents of St Peters' Ward are discovering that if they want something done the only people to contact are the Liberal Democrats."

Shuttle buses a step closer

Free shuttle buses in Rochdale are a step closer in Rochdale after transport bosses advertised the tenders for operators to run free shuttle buses in the town. Transport bosses have stressed that this does not guarantee the service. The deadline for expressions of interest is this Friday and the advert taken out in the Official Journal of the European Union is expected to attract significant interest.
