Police tied up in bureaucracy, report shows

Only one in 40 police officers on duty in some forces is available to respond to 999 calls, according to a HM Inspectorate of Constabulary study published yesterday. The report found that only 2.5 per cent of uniformed officers in one area were allocated to "response duties".

Hatch Grange play area gets a full inspection

Improved West End Play Areas Opened

Today the upgraded the play area at Moorgreen Recreation Ground and Hatch Grange were opened. The total cost of the improved work was paid for by the Parish Council aided by £28,000 grant from Eastleigh Borough Council's Local Area Committee for Hedge End, West End and Botley.

Hundreds of people have backed the Chelmsford Lib Dem "We Can Cut Crime" campaign, by posting back the reply cards that have been distributed right across the area. Parliamentary Candidate Stephen Robinson has reported on the successful campaign to Lib Dem Shadow Home Secretary Nick Clegg MP.
