Local MP Tim Farron has put down a parliamentary motion calling on the government and NHS commissioners to back the bid for a radiotherapy unit to be based at Westmorland General Hospital.
The work to complete the new Cochrane Park Sainsburys store is nearing its conclusion and we very much hope for a speedy end to the inconvenience experienced by people in the Etherstone Avenue area as a result of construction traffic, parking problems and disturbance. GREG took up concerns with the directors of the development and construction companies, resulting in greater consideration.
The new Labour Leader of the Council has warned that he intends to "change the way the Council allocates resources …. this means more will be targeted to where it's needed not simply to areas on the basis of the number of people living there."

North Heaton councillore DOREEN and GREG are continuing to tackle residents' concerns over parking, pavements, speeding - and driving schools! We have been working with our neighbourhood team, police, and highways officers to observe and photograph "hot spots", and have made formal requests for action at a number of locations.
The Lemington Lib Dem campaign, led by Lawrence Hunter, to give us a decent bus service here was successful. We now have the service 13 which links South West Denton, Dumpling Hall, central Lemington, Lemington Rise, West Denton Park, Valley View and Lemington village to West Denton shops, also serving Newburn and Throckley.
