Green plans will boost jobs and homes on the Isle of Wight

Jill Wareham, Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for the Island has given her backing to Liberal Democrat plans for investment in green schemes that will make homes warmer, cut energy bills and improve public transport. The plans, called "Green Road out of Recession", were announced just before Christmas by Liberal Democrat leader Nick Clegg MP.

Libdems call for Decent Houses

Housing policy has recently become a vital part of all political parties' agendas and those who remember the last mortgage crisis under the Conservatives will never want to experience the same situation again. The Liberal Democrats have developed a range of policies to combat the present situation that help those effected while taking action to replenish our stock of social housing. This, a safety net of houses to rent in England, has fallen by 450,000 from 1997-2006 to just 3.936 million as the number of households on social housing waiting lists has risen almost 70% to 1.67 million.

Bullet Train plans should go to Brussels says MEP

Wolverhampton Liberal Democrat Euro MP Liz Lynne has said that plans floated by Transport Minster Lord Adonis for a possible high speed rail line between London and Birmingham should focus on plugging the region into the existing Eurostar link to the continent.
