Liberal Democrats could win the General Election according to a new poll

A new poll finds the Liberal Democrats could nearly double their support and win the General Election. The poll was conducted by Communicate Research for The Independent, the poll records 37% of people would vote Liberal Democrat if thought the Liberal Democrats had a realistic chance of winning in their constituency.

Parmjit holds tuition fee debate in Parliament

This week Parmjit Singh Gill MP, Member of Parliament for Leicester South, held an adjournment debate in the House of Commons on University Tuition and top-up fees. Responding for the Government was the Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Education and Skills, Derek Twigg MP. Highlighted, were the growing concerns of students from both the University of Leicester and De Montfort about their increasing debt burden. Despite repeated proposals for the Minister to meet with a delegation of students from Leicester to hear their concerns directly, the Minister claimed the proposal was 'not viable'.

"How will my life be different if I vote in a Liberal Democrat Government?", "What do you want for the armed forces?", "Where do you stand on the National Health Service?", "Should I vote for the person I like, or the policies they represent?" were just some of the many questions that were thrown at Dr Anne Lee, Woking's Parliamentary Spokesperson for the Liberal Democrats, when she spoke to 120 sixth formers at Sir William Perkins school in Chertsey.

Mike Treleaven calls on European Commissioner to end dolphin slaughter.

Prospective Lib Dem Parliamentary Candidate for Totnes, Mike Treleaven took the opportunity during the visit of Joe Borg, European Fisheries Commissioners, to the constituency to call on the European Commission to institute a ban on pair trawling for bass, a fishing method commonly acknowledged to cause massive dolphin deaths.

Dear Editor,

The Dartmoor National Park Authority would do well to examine proposals by their colleagues in the Yorkshire Dales to restrict the sale of new and converted homes to locals.
