£250,000 police funding scrapped!

Councillor Alan Taylor, Leader of Rochdale Borough Council has announced that the Council's ground-breaking partnership with Greater Manchester Police will end this year. The policy, which led to a number of extra officers in our Borough has been in place for 2 years. The extra officers have been placed in schools and the community and have been that successful, the idea has been copied throughout Greater Manchester.

Car parking hike comes back to haunt Mid Sussex District Council

New figures released by Mid Sussex District Council show a big shortfall in the income from car parking tickets issued in the district's car parks since prices were hiked up earlier this year - despite Lib Dem opposition warnings at the time that it was the wrong moment to be increasing charges. "It's time that the Tories put their hands up and admitted that they've made a massive error of judgement on this issue." says Burgess Hill councillor Heather Ross.

Lib Dems Force Tory Hand on Volunteers

At a meeting of Full Council of Essex County Council (13th October), the Liberal Democrat group forced the Tories hand over encouraging more residents to get involved in volunteering and giving more publicity to voluntary groups across Essex.
