An unexpected rise in business on Eurostar trains to Paris and Brussels should be the impetus to look again at a direct service to Birmingham and Wolverhampton, says Liberal Democrat MEP Liz Lynne.
Councillor Alan Taylor, Leader of Rochdale Borough Council has announced that the Council's ground-breaking partnership with Greater Manchester Police will end this year. The policy, which led to a number of extra officers in our Borough has been in place for 2 years. The extra officers have been placed in schools and the community and have been that successful, the idea has been copied throughout Greater Manchester.
New figures released by Mid Sussex District Council show a big shortfall in the income from car parking tickets issued in the district's car parks since prices were hiked up earlier this year - despite Lib Dem opposition warnings at the time that it was the wrong moment to be increasing charges.
