Rochdale clubs together to fill mammoth container!

The fund raising efforts of the people of Rochdale will be stepped up a gear tomorrow - when a giant FORTY FOOT Container will be filled with urgent supplies to help the victims of the Asian Earthquake. The Container will be sent to the Kashmir Development Foundation who are based in the Bhimber area of Azad Kashmir, Pakistan and hit the sea on Tuesday. The container will be located at KYP, Rochdale from 2.30pm - 5.00pm tomorrow - 21st October.

Free Power Saver Light Bulbs for Shepway Residents

Hundreds of energy-saving light bulbs are being given away by Shepway Council as part of national Energy Saving Week that starts on 24 October. The bulbs, which use less electricity than their traditional counterparts and cost much less to use, are a part of the council's drive to raise awareness of the importance of saving energy.

Work starts at Saffron Lane

Work has now started to turn Saffron Lane Sports Stadium back into an athletics centre of excellence. A new track and field athletics investment programme is being put into place, which will include purpose built double storey changing accommodation, helping to make Saffron Lane a pure athletics centre, offering the very best provision for Leicester's athletes to train and compete, hopefully in preparation for 2012.

Farmer's Market in Epping High Street- Friday 21 October

In response to demand from residents, including requests at the annual town meeting, Epping Town Council has scheduled two farmers markets in Epping High Street. The first one was held on Friday 16th September, with the next one scheduled for Friday 21st October. If the markets are successful they could become a regular feature.

Colin Ross asks if Rob Marris has NO IDea over ID Cards

Last night saw Rob Marris, Labour MP for Wolverhampton South West, vote for compulsory Identity Cards. Mr. Marris consistently voted with the Government in last night's votes, despite the fact ID Cards will not stop terrorism, cut crime or benefit fraud. These ID Cards will only add to the powers of a 'Big Brother' state and even by the Government's own admission increase the number of Asian people stopped by the police .
