March Focus for St. Peter's Ward

St. Peter's Lib Dem Focus Team have started to deliver their latest Focus across the Ward, The main stories are: massive hike in council tax, Newhampton Road traffic calming, dumped rubbish in Craddock Street, Gatis Street name plate, MEP calls for EU not to ignore disabled. DISABLED PEOPLE MUST NOT BE IGNORED BY EU - MEP

Wolverhampton's Lib Dem Euro MP, Liz Lynne, launched a campaign to get more countries to sign up for greater rights for disabled people. The campaign stepped up a gear when she met a delegation of leading disability organisations at the European Parliament in Brussels.

Zahid Shah acts on dumping

St. Peter's Ward Lib Dem candidate Zahid Shah spotted a pile of rubbish dumped on land by Craddock Street. He was appalled at what he found. Zahid spoke to local residents living near by and they all told him they had seen rats which had even come into their gardens. One lady told Zahid she had tried to get the mess removed but no action was taken. Zahid said, "I am determined that health hazards like this must not be tolerated by anyone and have taken immediate steps to get the area cleaned up."

Rowen hails disability conference a great success!

Rochdale MP Paul Rowen has hailed his disability conference a 'huge success'. The North West Disability Conference attracted over 100 people throughout the day. Guest Speaker at the Conference was Liberal Democrat Shadow Secretary of State for Work and Pensions, Danny Alexander MP.
