PRESS RELEASE: Lib Dems call for urgent report on Southern Cross

In response to the news that Southern Cross is going into administration, Liberal Democrat councillors have urged the Chair of the Adults and Communities Scrutiny committee to ask the Director of Adults and Communities to give an update on the implications for residents funded by the County Council at the meeting tomorrow.

The cost of parking incompetence is half a million pounds

Traders, town councils, opposition councillors, newspapers and residents told Wiltshire Council's Conservative cabinet that excessive rises in car parking charges would be bad news for everyone including the council itself. Now the accounts for the first quarter of the 2011/12 financial year have been announced we can see the scale of the damage.

Prater: A New, Better View on Academies by Kent County Council

Folkestone West County Councillor Tim Prater has welcomed the statement by Kent County Council Leader Paul Carter on Kent Schools and Academy status. Previously, Mr Cater had advised all schools to consider academy status, but in a letter to school governors issued today, he changed that position.
