PM's authority draining away as Government reputation reaches crisis point
Charles Clarke has said the Labour Government is lacking leadership and direction because Tony Blair has lost his sense of purpose. The former Home Secretary has spoken of the Government becoming becalmed and in an attack on his successor John Reid said Mr Blair's decision to sack him has stalled Home Office reform.

MP takes Alzheimer's fight to minister
Local MP Tim Farron has asked Health Secretary Patricia Hewitt to remove restrictions on the availability of Alzheimer's drugs. Tim met with concerned constituents during yesterday's lobby of Parliament. NICE has made recommendations to make certain drugs - including Aricept and Exiba - only available to a restricted number of Alzheimer's patients.

MP demands response from Ambulance Trust
Local MP Tim Farron has demanded an immediate response from Cumbria Ambulance Service after the Trust's First Responders call-out system failed again late last week.
