Operation Stack Update: The Longest Stack in History

Kent Police is continuing to run Operation Stack on the M20 as the SeaFrance officers' strike continues. Police are operating phase two of Stack, which sees the closure of junctions 8 (Leeds Castle) to 9 (Ashford West) of the coastbound section of the M20.

Liberal Democrats head for Liverpool - radical health plans on the agenda

Liberal Democrats are heading to Liverpool today for the party's spring conference. The highlight of conference will be Nick Clegg's first conference leader's speech, at the end of the conference on Sunday morning. On Saturday morning, Vince Cable's speech as Shadow Chancellor will also be closely watched, especially coming as it does at the start of Budget week. In the conference chamber there will be debates and speeches on health, education, the economy, local government, defence and the justice system among other issues. Particularly important is the new health paper setting out proposals to radically transform the NHS into a 'people's health service' by empowering individuals and decentralising control to local communities.

Nonsuch Mansion

Nonsuch Park - D-Day is Tuesday 25 March 2008

Surrey County Council's governing Executive Committee is set to meet at 2.30 pm on Tuesday 25 March 2008 to finally decide whether or not to lease Nonsuch Park and its Mansion House to the Epsom & Sutton councils whose joint management committee (JMC) has run the park for them for the last 70 years. Campaigners, including Sutton's Lib Dem MP, are encouraging those concerned about the future of Nonsuch to attend this meeting to demonstrate the strength of public feeling locally on this issue when D-Day (Decision Day) finally arrives
