Following pressure from the Liberal Democrats, the Coalition Government has clarified that Armed Forces families and foster carers will be protected from changes to Housing Benefit. This follows yesterday's announcement that families with severely disabled children will also be exempt.

Herts Highways at Fault AGAIN - this Time with Faulty Link to the Highway Fault System!

Words failed County Councillor Nick Hollinghurst when he received the following e-mail. So he reproduced it as sent to him unchanged, typo and all. He has, however, to placate the angry Executive Member of Highways, Cllr Stuart Pile, now removed the name and contact details of the Head of Customer Services (which the officer himself published in the county's e-mail apology).

Introducing New Sandgate Parish Councillor Vannessa Reay

Following the resignation of Conservative Councillor Nigel Griffith from Sandgate Parish Council, a vacancy was declared and nominations opened. At the close of nominations, the only nominated candidate was Sandgate Village resident and Lib Dem candidate Vannessa Reay. As such, Vannessa was declared a new Councillor for Sandgate Village on Sandgate Parish Council as of 18th March, joining the existing Lib Dem group of Tim Prater and Gary Fuller.
