Bedford Borough Liberal Democrat Cllrs Dave Hodgson and Charles Royden have taken up the Partnerships and IT and Environment portfolios respectively after the Lib Dems reached a deal with the Mayor which will enable them to make a real difference in the day-to-day lives of local residents and start delivering the high levels of service that residents deserve.

Lib Dems' Eleventh Hour Bid to save Warden Service sunk by Chairman's casting vote

Barnet Liberal Democrats' last ditch effort to save the Sheltered Housing Service floundered this evening (18 June) on the Chairman of the Business Management Overview and Scrutiny sub Committee's casting vote. Cllr Jack Cohen, leader of Barnet Liberal Democrats, had called in the cabinet decision to scrap the Sheltered Housing Warden Service. Cllr Cohen, who had forced Conservative Cabinet Member Richard Cornelius to justify the proposed cuts, said he was bitterly disappointed with the outcome.

Lib Dems force Tory re-think on Town Hall Car Parking charges

Brentwood's Liberal Democrats have welcomed the news that the Conservative administration have committed to review the introduction of car parking charges in the Town Hall Car Parks at weekends. With Sunday charges already dropped after resident uproar and the news of a 400-strong petition organised by the Lib Dems, Saturday charges could soon follow.
