Cumbrian MP Tim Farron has this morning secured a meeting with Energy Minister, John Hayes, to discuss the future and potential of hydro power in Cumbria.

Conservatives reject call by Liberal Democrats for safer roads
Surrey County Council's Conservative-run administration have rejected a call by the Liberal Democrats for the County's speed limits policy to be changed to make it easier for 20mph zones to be introduced where evidence says they are required and they are supported by local residents.

'Cumbria gains £7.1 million from pupil premium' - Farron
South Lakes MP Tim Farron has today welcomed the news that Cumbria has received £7,147,000 through the pupil premium to help support 11,922 pupils throughout the county.

Councillor Welcomes Rapid Bridge Repair
Work has at last started to repair the Aylesford Bridge near Marton seriously damaged by a HGV in October. Local Shropshire Councillor, Heather Kidd explained "I was called early one morning by a resident who said that a Spar lorry had hit the bridge demolishing much of the parapet on one side. Although a small bridge its located on a main road across my Division and the subsequent road restrictions have cased a fair amount of disruption. "The good news is that Shropshire Council's Bridge Team have acted quickly and the bridge is being repaired as we speak without the need to close the road. The council have tracked down the lorry's owners who have accepted responsibility so the cost will not have to fall on the council taxpayer." Work should be completed by 21st December 2012.

The bridge near Folly Cottages damaged by a HGV is now being repaired. Traffic lights will remain but the road wont have to be closed. Work should be completed by 21st December.
