Liberal Democrat Council Leader, Nigel Hartin has slammed the Ludlow M.P., Philip Dunne, for his naivety on affordable housing. The M.P. had commented in the local paper on how bad he thought the affordable housing policy of the old Liberal Democrat South Shropshire District Council was. This despite it being hailed nationally as an example of outstanding practice and then being adopted by the Tory County Council in Shropshire......

The Tories could be facing months of turmoil as they face major divisions over Europe after Ireland voted decisively in favour of the Lisbon treaty. Around two thirds voted Yes to the reform proposals and this means that the treaty is almost certainly going to become law. Many Tories want nothing to do with the EU and the vast majority of them want a referendum despite what their leader says but Heather said "There are many benefits of EU membership and they should be considered very seriously. Protecting British families from crime, the recession and climate change have major advantages if our country works with other EU countries."
Later on Sunday, I visited the Guru Gobind Singh Gurdwara in Bedford Road, Kempston. Accompanied by my wife, Christine McHugh and Councillor Mark Fitzpatrick we were made most welcome. If elected as Mayor I will keep in close contact with members of the Sikh community as well as other faith groups.
