1. Greece's two mainstream political parties agreed on a pact for a unity government after intense pressure from the EU, which warned the country would be left to go bankrupt if a cross-part consensus was not achieved. 2. Germany has rejected demands by France, Britain and the US to allow national gold reserves to be put as collateral for the eurozone bailout fund. 3. A two-day meeting in the south of France of the world's most powerful leaders drew to a close with few concrete agreements, leaving EU leaders no wiser on how to control their single currency crisis. 4. Italy agreed to be put under surveillance by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) as part of a plan to restore market trust in the eurozone's third-largest economy. 5. Greek PM George Papandreou stepped down, and was replaced by a former vice-president of the ECB. A referendum on the new bail-out deal for Greece has been shelved. 6. Parking Issues Around Gosforth

There are currently consultations going on about putting double yellow lines at the bottom of Hunters Road. This will hopefully put an end to the dangerous parking at the junction.

People Power Beats Pizza Power In South Gosforth!

When Domino's Pizza on Station Road applied to stay open to deliver pizzas till 4:00 am every day local residents sprang into action. Worried about late night noise, disruption and rowdiness they organised a petition. Councillor Henry Gallagher invited a journalist who interviewed locals and took photos. However, once a date for the Licensing Committee was set and with your East Gosforth Councillors, the South Gosforth Residents Association and local residents all set to protest against the application, Domino's withdrew it!

Liberal Democrats Pump Money into Newcastle’s Schools

The Coalition Government has fulfilled the Lib Dem election promise to provide a 'pupil premium' of £500 for each pupil on free school meals. Schools in Ouseburn Ward will gain about £90,000 this year, a very welcome boost to their finances.
