Tories crash to 3rd place in Park Ward

The Liberal Democrats said all along that the Tories couldn't win in Park Ward but when the votes were finally counted they were in 3rd place. Voting Conservative actually let Labour win as they had just 128 votes more than the Liberal Democrats.

Robin Lawrence says "Thank you"

With turnout up this year, possibly due to the large number of postal voters, Robin Lawrence came within 128 votes of winning Park Ward at his first attempt. The election was hard fought and resulted in a larger than ever share of the votes for the Liberal Democrats.

Matthews Becomes Mayor of Hythe

Councillor Neil Matthews has become the new Mayor of Hythe. Neil was unanimously elected at the Annual Council Meeting on Thursday, 4th May 2006. Congratulations to Neil from all at Shepway Liberal Democrats.

Lib Dems make gains in Blackburn

Liberal Democrats in Blackburn made a net gain of 2 seats from Labour in the Local Elections on May 5. This increased their representation on Blackburn with Darwen Council to 13. Lib Dems gained Audley, Bastwell and Shear Brow from Labour, but lost one seat, Little Harwood to Labour. They cam close to gaining another seat in the Sudell Ward in Darwen, Tony Melia failing to gain the seat by only 12 votes.
