Action on unsecured building site

Following door to door surveys by Jonathan Webber, Councillor Claire Darke and Councillor Robin Lawrence in the Vauxhall area residents have reported their concerns about an unsecured building site behind Lower Vauxhall. Visiting the area Councillor Robin Lawrence also noticed fly-tipped rubbish, broken and collapsed fences.Commenting, Jonathan Webber said "Park Ward Liberal Democrats take problems such as these very seriously and I shall be reporting these issues to Wolverhampton Council's Enforcement Division immediately."

LABOUR PARLIAMENTARY CANDIDATE GIVES UP ON WOKING

Woking Liberal Democrats were not too surprised to learn that Labour's prospective parliamentary candidate has given up on Woking. She is one of eight candidates who have applied to stand for the safe Labour seat of Erith and Thamesmead. The hustings and selection in Erith and Thamesmead made national headlines when Saturday's Labour hustings and selection was postponed because it was discovered that one of the ballot boxes had been tampered with.

Liberal Democrats will cut people's income tax bill by £700.

The Liberal Democrats will fight the next general election with a pledge to cut income tax bills by £700 for people on low and middle incomes. The party will promise to raise the income tax personal allowance to £10,000 by closing tax loopholes exploited by big businesses and the wealthy.

Jobs for the boys

Most of the Council Tax paid by Essex residents is spent by Essex County Council, which is led by a 50-strong group of Conservative councillors. Those 50 councillors all receive a substantial basic allowance for the work that they do.
