Letter from the Chair - August 2012
Dear friends,
Dear friends,
Railway cutting land off Mill Road, Epsom, is the first of the borough council's identified sites for housing (some 18 in total) to become the subject of a planning application, though recent press coverage has featured another site - the Organ Inn PH in Ewell.
The Leicester City Liberal Democrats constituency team in the south of the city are pleased to report that Carriageway Repairs ordered by Leicester City Council have been completed in Castle Ward's Jarrom Street after information sent by local activists.
The Leicester South team are pleased to report that Carriageway repairs on Burnmoor Street in the Castle Ward have been completed by Leicester City Council. A series of potholes had formed around the junction with Brazil Street and at further intervals along Burnmoor Street.
Wiltshire Council's "Substantive Highway Scheme" gives out money for road safety works which are too big for an individual Area Board to cope with. This year a total of £205,900 was available. Of 16 bids 13 were successful. These include works to Bythesea Road in Trowbridge to make life easier for pedestrians (£10,700), improvements to the Boreham Road / Bishopstrow Road junction in Warminster (£19,000), and more pavements in Wingfield (£16,800).
Wiltshire Council has agreed to close a short length of footpath which crosses part of the area used by Trowbridge Town Football Club. Although the path doesn't cross the pitch itself the club are concerned about dog fouling in the area, and about repeated vandalism. Closing the public right of way should allow them to increase the security of the site. Walkers will be able to use a slightly longer route along Woodmarsh and Axe and Cleaver Lane to get to the same destination.
