The Leader of the Opposition at County Hall has today reacted to an OFSTED inspection of safeguarding children that identified serious failings in the safeguarding of children. OFSTED judges Northamptonshire County Council as inadequate in all 4 categories and identifies that:

Following on from Cllr Philip Mynott's attempts to get an answer from Tory-controlled Brentwood Council about a matter in his Brentwood North ward, over in Brentwood West Cllr Karen Chilvers had to wait 237 days for a response to a query...only to find that officers had already made the decision for her WITHOUT the benefit of financial information she originally requested.
Wiltshire Wood Recycling is a 'not for profit' Community Interest Company, formed in 2006 to offer environmental and social benefits to the community of Wiltshire. They save wood waste from landfill and offer volunteering opportunities. The wood is largely collected from building sites and commercial premises which would otherwise be disposed of via skips into landfill. Where possible they use the wood to make products such as compost bins, garden planters, benches, bird tables and tea light holders. Some of the wood is sold in lengths to customers calling in to the site for their DIY projects, and some is cut down to be sold as kindling and firewood. Anything they are unable to use is taken to be chipped for garden use. The wood needs a lot of preparation to be ready for reuse and this is where volunteers come in.
