If planning decisions are made locally, councillors can be held to account
I had not realised that as a back bench MP the late Lady Thatcher introduced a private members bill to allow public access to meetings of public bodies. It's hard to believe now that the public were once excluded from Council Meetings. Harder still to believe that planning meetings once took place in secret sessions.
