Local Conservatives have blocked further progress on an exciting riverside regeneration scheme for Bedford town centre in a move described as 'playing politics with Bedford's future.' A scheduled meeting next week of an all-party jury to select a developer to work up plans in consultation with local residents for the 'Riverside North' project has been cancelled after the Tories used a Council blocking procedure to halt this latest step in the process. The move is likely to see any further progress on plans for the regeneration delayed for months, beyond the local elections in May.

Liberal Democrat in Wolverhampton were today welcoming the news that due to changes in the national tax system, implemented by Liberal Democrats in the Coalition Government, 3,340 of Wolverhampton's poorest residents have been lifted out of the personal income tax band altogether.
Liberal Democrats from Wolverhampton will be heading to the Party's Conference in Sheffield on 11th March. And with elections and the Referendum on changing the voting system due to be held on 5th May, members will be using the Conference as a springboard for a successful campaign.
Many residents have contacted the Liberal Democrat FOCUS Team with concerns about bus services and the proposed service changes that CENTRO are planning. So Jonathan Webber is conducting a bus survey and he will feed the results back to CENTRO who are holding a review to see whether the bus network is providing the right services for people within the area.
