Woking Liberal Democrats Launch National Health Service Inquiry

In launching the Inquiry, which is being delivered to 40,000 homes in Woking, Dr Anne Lee said: "people have contacted me with a range of concerns about health-care provision across the Borough. Most people are complimentary about the care they have received from doctors and nurses. Unfortunately they are still reporting worries about waiting times for specialist appointments, the availability of specialist equipment at St Peters and concerns about the shortage of GPs and national health dentists.

2,500 more Post Offices could close under Labour - Robinson

Local Lib Dems are continuing to fight the closure of Post Offices in Chelmsford. In the last two years SEVEN have closed locally (around 2000 nationally, and more are under threat). Local campaigners Stephen Robinson and Mike Mackrory say 'Our Post Offices provide an essential service to local people. Research by Lib Dem campaigner Peter Carroll has revealed that whilst residents of New Romney are having to pay several thousand pounds to connect to the long awaited new mains drainage system, residents in other areas of the UK are getting connection for only a token fee.

Carroll Opposes Lydd Airport Expansion

Lib Dem Campaigner Peter Carroll has added his voice to the calls for a public inquiry into the proposed expansion of Lydd Airport. There are moves to lengthen the runway and to encourage greater use of the airport by commercial airliners.

Carroll leads calls to save local wards

The Folkestone and Hythe Extra has confirmed that two wards at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Folkestone are earmarked are earmarked for closure. The Shepway Primary Care Trust which runs the hospital is suggesting the closure of the Fitton and Edinburgh wards and the transfer of the services they provide to Dover.
