Backing Chelmsford Fairtrade Town Campaign

The Annual General Meeting of Chelmsford Fairtrade Town Campaign will be held at Christ Church, New London Road on 10 November, at 7.30pm. Fairtrade refreshments and Fairtrade gifts will be on sale from 7pm. At the AGM Alison Tulloch will be giving a talk on her experiences in promoting and selling Fairtrade. All welcome.

Supermarket fags go under cover

Since October 1st 2011 it's been illegal to sell tobacco directly to the public from vending machines. It's also against the law to display advertisements or pictures of cigarettes on vending machines.

On Friday local MP Tim Farron met with representatives from the Bowness business community, Cumbria Police and Cumbria County Council, to lend his support to the campaign to bring a new coach stop to north Bowness.

Overnight work to resurface A20 near Folkestone

Overnight work starting Monday (12 September 2011) on the eastbound A20 near Folkestone, in Kent will involve resurfacing sections of the carriageway, replacing road studs, and repainting road markings between junction 13 of the M20 and the A20 junction with the B2011.

Call the cops on 101

From 19 September people in Wiltshire will be able to dial 101, a new national non-emergency telephone number for the police service. The 101 number is being introduced as part of the government's attempt to improve access to the police, ease pressure on 999 and help the police tackle crime and disorder.
