Talking Politics by Councillor Zulfiqar Ali - An affront to democracy!

The campaign is going very well, we've just come back from yet another days canvassing. I have been inundated with messages of thanks because the Liberal Democrats have delivered FREE RESIDENT'S PARKING for residents who live near the Infirmary. As a Cabinet Member for Community Cohesion and Housing I have played a big part in this, alongside my mentor - Councillor Khalid Mahood. We have kept a clear promise to the people of Central Rochdale and delivered this FREE, unlike Labour who wanted to charge £50. Residents are quite rightly pleased - why should people have to pay to park outside their houses.

Climate Change Starts at Home campaign launched

Liberal Democrat Leader Menzies Campbell has launched the "Climate Change Starts at Home campaign", cementing the party's position as the greenest of the three major parties. Visiting a house built in the 1870 which is undergoing improvements to make it more energy efficient, Menzies Campbell unveiled bold proposals that demonstrated how upgrading Britain's homes could reduce carbon dioxide emissions by millions of tonnes, save energy, and lead to significant cuts in energy bills. Introducing the measures outlined in the policy paper could save more carbon than is produced every year by all the cars on Britain's roads.
