Liberal Democrat Progress - A Good Week of By Election Results

With two gains, two holds and progress everywhere it really has been a good week. However, the star result had to be a Liberal Democrat GAIN in Newlyn & Goonhavern (Cornwall) from the Conservatives. Both the Tory and the Mebyon Kernow leaving the Lib Dems ahead with 24% in a fragmented field.

News from Rickmansworth Liberal Democrats - Three Rivers, a Lib Dem Run Council

The Reach Free School planning application has now been submitted . It has not yet been validated so it is not yet available for public access. ………………………………………………... We have been pressing HS2 for some time to have an open day event here to inform local residents about the plans, etc. Although the main impact of the construction will be on West Hyde and Maple Cross the whole Rickmansworth area will be significantly affected. HS2 has decided to hold the event in the middle of August. When TRDC pointed out that holiday time would rule out a large number of people HS2 agreed to hold a second day in September. The dates are Thursday 11th August 2.00-8.00pm, and Saturday 17th September 11.00am-3.00pm at Maple Cross Community Centre, on the corner of Hornhill / Longcroft Rds. This an opportunity to find out more about the project, talk to experts about the environmental impact, engineering, construction, property, etc, to see maps and plans and ask questions. Cambridge North Station Impression

Following Planning Permission Complications the new Cambridge North Station now has a Completion Date at Last

Planning permission for the new Cambridge North Station, which is expected to handle 3,000 passengers a day in the north east of the city, was originally granted in 2013. However, when Cambridgeshire County Council, the original promoters of the new station, had to hand the project over to Network Rail, it was decided that a second planning application would have to made and the whole process repeated. Thie time taken to do this then led to the project being delayed further since it became entangled in various financial reviews. Altogether these administrative obstacles pushed the completion back by nearly three years
